School Meals

Our hot meals are freshly prepared and cooked in our kitchen at Rowanfield Junior School by staff from Miquill CateringChildren make their lunch choice on the morning they are having a school meal. Alternatively, a healthy packed lunch can be brought in from home. We ask that children do not bring fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate to school. We are a healthy school and aim to promote a balanced diet for all our pupils.

Children entitled to Pupil Premium have free school meals; everyone else pays via Arbor and accounts must be in credit for pupils to be able to order (although we would never let a child go hungry in school).

'Message from MiQuill – Academic Year 24/25 - regarding pricing:

Starting from September 2024, there will be a change in the price of our school meals. The new price will be £2.60 per meal, reflecting a necessary adjustment to cover current food and increased labour costs. We understand the financial concerns this may raise for some families and want to reassure you that this decision was made after careful consideration and has been limited to the minimum increase to cover rising costs. Our school meal service remains committed to providing nutritional menus, catering to various dietary preferences, while also ensuring value for money.'

Free School Meals

If your child is in Year 3, 4, 5 or 6, and your circumstances have changed, you may be entitled to free school meals. Check this out by visiting https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals. If you are unable to complete the form online, please visit the school office, and a member of the office team will provide you with the necessary support. Please be assured that your application will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and it will not affect any other benefits you may be receiving.

Allergies

Please ensure the school are aware of any dietary requirements for your child as we are committed to meeting the needs of all children. MiQuill are also happy to meet with you on an individual basis if your child has specific medical dietary needs. Special menus are available (via MiQuill) to cater for additional dietary needs.

We are also a 'nut aware' school and ask parents not to send in any products containing nuts.
