Mabel and Cooper
We are very lucky at Rowanfield to have not one, but two school dogs!
Mabel has been our school dog since January 2025 and Cooper is returned to Rowanfield in November 2025, having previously been our school dog up until 2022.
Mabel is a cockerpoo cross breed, we are not sure what she is crossed with but think there may be some corgi in there. You will understand when you meet her! Mabel has a very sweet nature and is very calm. She has taken to school life very well and has a knack for knowing when someone needs a cuddle!

Children can benefit both educationally and emotionally from being around dogs. Examples of these areas are improvements in reading skills, behaviour, attendance, confidence and empathy. In addition to these benefits, the students at Rowanfield have demonstrated that they enjoy spending time with and learning alongside a dog.
“Dogs are a powerfully cost-effective way of helping children feel more secure at school and a low-tech approach to reducing anxiety”. Sir Anthony Seldon (Vice Chancellor University of Buckingham).
We realise that some parents and children may have concerns being around dogs but we are hopeful that both our school dog and the students can work together to overcome these fears. However, if you do not wish for your child to come into contact with our dog then we will ensure that she is kept away.
