Start and End of Day Routine

Children need to arrive at school between 08.45am and 08.55am, through the Year 3 door.

When they enter the classroom there will be a morning task set for the children. This might be a maths activity, a writing activity, times tables, spelling or something specific to your child’s needs.

Children are also welcome to attend Breakfast Club at 08:15am (paid) or 08.30am (free) where toast, crumpets and juice are provided free of charge and is open to all children.

At the end of the day, children are to be collected from the Year 3 door at 3.05pm.

Homework Expectations

In Year 3 children are expected to read for at least 15 minutes four times a week with an adult at home. Please can this be recorded in their reading records. Please be aware that we do not change books as soon as the children have read them once, as we want the children to re-read books in order to develop their awareness of punctuation and develop their fluency.

Year 3 children will be given a weekly homework sheet that will include the spelling list that focuses on the spelling pattern we are learning that week, a Maths activity and a Writing activity. Homework will be handed out on a Friday and will need to be returned the following Friday. We will have a spelling test every Friday and record scores to track progress. Please make sure your child is practicing these spelling words each week.

Please can children be using Times Table Rock Stars at twice times a week  to practice their times tables. We have a leaderboard display and will be celebrating the children's achievement.
