Start and End of Day Routine
Children in Years 5 and 6 can arrive onto the main playground (top gate entrance) from 8:15am or 8.30am. Classroom doors will open from 08:45am and the top gate will stay open until 8:55am. The top gate and playground are supervised by SLT during this time.
When the children enter the classroom there will be a morning task set for the children. This might be responding to written feedback from the previous Maths or English lesson; finishing off work; completing some Arithmetic work; Grammar work; or they will be given time to read to help support them in hitting their reading target.
Children are also welcome to attend Breakfast club at 8:15am (paid) or 08:30am (free) via main office entrance where toast, crumpets and juice are provided free of charge and is open to all children.
The top (junior) gates open again 3:05pm for the end of the day. Please ensure you update Arbor with permissions for children to be able to walk home alone.

PE
ALL classes will have outdoor PE on Mondays - OAA (Outdoor & Adventurous Activities
Class 19 - Outdoor PE Fridays - Rounders
Class 20 - Outdoor PE Fridays - Rounders
Class 21 - Outdoor PE Thursdays - Rounders
Forest School
Forest School will start be on a Tuesday afternoon throughout Term 6. The first session will be Tuesday 2nd June - Forest Scholl kit will be needed on these days.
Homework Expectations
In Year 6 children are expected to read for at least 20 minutes each day at home. Please can this be recorded in their reading records daily. Please be aware that we do not change books as soon as the children have read them once, as we want the children to re-read books in order to develop their awareness of punctuation and develop their fluency.
Weekly homework will be given out as a paper copy every Friday. This will consist of a VGP (Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation) activity that will be either linked to the VGP sessions that are taking place in class or the skills being taught during English lessons. The Maths work that will help to consolidate understanding of the Maths facts for Upper KS2 or be linked to the work taking place in class. The Homework will be collected in and marked on a Wednesday.
At certain points of the term we will also be setting Time Table Rockstars battles which consolidate the times table knowledge that is so important in Year 6. Please ensure your children are practicing regularly and understand the importance of knowing their times tables.
